Goal Reflection

These are my goals I set myself at the start of term one

  1. Become a P.A.L and or Peer mediator
  2. Achieve my Merit Excellence or Distinction
  3.  Get better at maths
I think that I'm doing well because:

  • I'm a Peer Mediator and P.A.L ( Physical Activity Leader )
  • I got my Merit last term
  • I think I have improved on my math because I have almost reached the standard I'm aiming for.
My next step is to next year I will set more challenging goals E.g get my excellence badge.

Generalise properties of multiplication and division with whole numbers

W.A.L.T: Generalise properties of multiplication and division with whole numbers

The answer to this question is g *h = h * g. Here is a link to the website the teacher sent us. This is an example of the commutative property.

The answer to this question is 8 * 0 = 0. This is an example of the zero property. Find the link above :)
The answer to this question is identity. ( This is and example of the identity property! )
The answer to this question is distributive. ( An example of the distributive property. )

The answer to this question is ( d * f ) * g = d * ( f * g. ) This is an example of the associative property.
My solo level is extended abstract because I seek feedback how I can improve on my goal and can teach others to do the same. My next step is to get a new maths goal!

Koru Games

Koru Games

Over the last  three days the year 7/8s from Oaklands School (along with many other schools) participated in the Koru Games. All sports were held in different venues depending on what the sport required.
Something I really enjoyed was playing so many different schools and representing Oaklands School while playing touch because it was my first time playing in a tournament.
Thinking back to the beginning of the year, I really improved because I didn't know how to play touch rugby and now I do along with some good techniques.
Something I will remember is loosing 3-2 in our last game.

Writing Prove It- Include Punctuation In My Writing

W.A.L.T: Include punctuation in my writing

This is my entry and exit ticket.

Here is one of my paragraphs of why the school day should be shorter proving I have improved on my goal, I think that my solo level would be relational because I can make connections between my writing.

I guess you haven't noticed but us children  are soooooo fatigue during there long school hours. Now I figure  you haven't noticed because if you have would've done something. Right? Right!?   Well, let me tell you why the average child (or lazy child ) gets up at ten in the morning! That  was until school. Now we are forced to wake up at seven thirty or, wait for it... EVEN EARLIER! If you are thinking what I'm thinking school should start later and end earlier...

Reading Prove It- Apply Some Criteria To Evaluate Texts

W.A.L.T: Apply some criteria to evaluate texts
Solo Level: I think that my solo level would be relational because I used several strategies to apply criteria and I know when and why to use them.
Next Step: My next step would be to choose a new reading goal!

Describe features of 2-D & 3-D objects in geometric language

Maths Prove It
WALT: Describe features of 2-D & 3-D objects in geometric language

I think that I am at Extended Abstract   for this goal because I can apply the math skill, I am strategic about it when I use it but if I was learning about it for longer I might've learnt more strategies. I can also make a video to show other people how.

My next step would  be to choose a new maths goal!!!

Leadership Merit Evidence- Piano Lessons!

Piano Lessons With Hillary

On Tuesday the 28th July/ yesterday I went to piano with my book. Firstly we recapped some pieces  did last week then learnt something new. What I learnt was low G Bass G and Treble G with the left hand. At first I didn't really understand what to do with one of the activities so I used some learner dispositions and questioned, was curious and was resilient also

Writing Evidence- Ideas

Part of my story:

W.A.L.T: Include ideas in my writing
I heard a wailing siren sound in the distance. Wait a second, what was that strange man doing lying in the middle of the pavement?! As I am quite a curious fly I wandered over to the crime scene, he was still not even twitching. I decided to tickle him, after all who isn't ticklish? Wow, he's good! I thought. He didn't even flinch! Just after I tasered him a few times and was convinced this was just a person that was very tired and decided to have a nap a flashing police car came to an abrupt halt several meters away from me. That's when I noticed the astonished mob of people surrounding me and I realized it mightn't of  looked like I was trying to help him. I felt a bead of sweat trickle down my forehead  and saw one of the stern police man shook their head disapprovingly and cuffed my abnormally long legs behind my back...
The highlighted bits are where I included scenes eg sound, sight and touch. Since I included several of these throughout my story and not the same ones I think that my solo level would be 'multistuctural'. My next step would probably be to include that amount in each paragraph because I didn't include that many in every paragraph.

Division Algorithms- Maths Prove It

Division Algorithms

W.A.L.T: Use multiplicative strategies
I am probably at 'relational' because I was getting better at it but if I practised for a little longer I would be even better. The next step that I need to work on is to be resilient when I get to the difficult questions because I felt like giving up and got a bit distracted.
342 divided by 62 = First I would do how many times 62 goes into 34, but since 62 is bigger than 34 I do 62 into 342. So the answer is...    5 r 32!!! My solo level would probably be extended abstract because I could do them but sometimes needed assistance with the harder questions. My next step would probably be to practice more so I would get even better and not forget how to.

2015 Goals

2015 Goals

W.A.L.Ts:
.Become a Peer Mediator and/ or P.A.L. I am going well because I am both and remember to turn up. My next step is probably to remind others in my group.
.Get better at my maths. I think I am getting a bit better at math, the maths breakouts helped. My next step would be to practice a bit more so I can improve on my goal.
.Get my Merit Excellence or Distinction. I haven't got my Merit yet but just need to do a few more blog posts. My next step would be to start blogging at the start of the year!

Leadership- Merit Evidence Peer Mediation!

Peer Mediation

On Friday the 26th of June I did Peer Mediation. I had quite a good lunch-time because we had no problems although we had to find a duty teacher since the door was locked and I couldn't get the equipment. Next time I think I should remind the other people in my group because one of them forgot to turn up.

Leadership Merit Evidence- Being A Role Model To Kakano Students

Being A Role Model

I have been showing the C.A.R.E values and being a good role model for Kakano students by helping out a year 6 for wet day duty and showing a good example of the expected indoor morning tea/ lunch time behavior. A friend and I played a game of 'Pick up sticks' with a student while trying to keep the class at the expected noise level and succeeded!

Leadership Merit Evidence- Piano Lessons!

PIANO LESSONS WITH HILLARY!

Today/ 16-06-15 I went to piano. I had a great lesson and learnt some more about melodic and harmonic seconds and thirds by learning a couple of pieces. When I was unsure about something I used the learner disposition and questioned. My goal would be to remember my book every week as I don't always remember, though I did this week. :)

Merit Evidence- Getting Involved

Getting Involved!

I have been getting involved by always doing something during morning-tea and lunch. I sometimes play a P.A.Ls game, sometimes am running the P.A.Ls activity or doing a different one of my duties. But most of the time I am playing a fun game with my friends. We usually do lots of running around (avoiding knocking over littler children), gymnastics skills, occasionally go to the library or play on the playground. Overall I reckon I am doing quite well in 'getting involved' because I am trying to be involved in something while showing the C.A.R.E values, staying inside the boundaries as well as being a good role model to the younger students.

Leadership Merit Evidence- Piano Lessons!

Piano Lessons With Hillary

On the 9/06/2015- today I remembered to go to piano lessons. I also remembered my piano book and was on time. At one point I was a bit stuck/confused about something but I used my resilience strategies and Hillary helped me out. I learnt a couple of new pieces and recapped something from last week to refresh my memory. My next step would be to practice when I have spare time so I can get better and understand what I am learning the next week.

Leadership Merit Evidence- Helping Out Around The School

Helping Out Around The School

I have been helping out around the school  by: When the relief teachers in our class I showed the C.A.R.E values and reminded others to do the same. I also politely corrected them if they had made a mistake. This has helped not only our class but also our entire school by not giving Oaklands School a bad name, I also reminded others to do the same if they were not. My next step would be probably  be to constantly check the flow and self check chart without being reminded as the relief teachers were not used our system.

My Career Goal Veterinarian Physician- Paragraph

MY CAREER GOAL

My career goal is to become a successful veterinarian physician because I love animals and would like to help save their lives, If you want to be a respected vet you need to respect people's feelings even if you completely disagree. But on the academic  side of things you need to take these studies: mathematics, chemistry biology  and physics then you might achieve your veterinarian degree you need in order to get the job. Once you have got your degree and you are suitable for the job you are likely to get the job since there is a wide range of animals needing more care across Christchurch/New Zealand.

READING GOAL PROOF

W.A.L.T: Make inferences.
My reading goal is to make inferences so I attended the reading breakout and we got a sheet that we had to fill in. In the first box we had to write what the inference that we make was. Then in the next box we wrote why the author got us to infer. Now that I went to the make inferences breakouts I think I understand them better.

Leadership Merit Evidence- Cross Country Kauri Team Events

Cross Country-Participate in a Kauri Team Event

On the 5th of May I went to Haswell Domain along with most of the other kauri students to participate in the cross country.

Once we were seated Mr Forman explained the route of the race and we walked the course so we were more familiar with it. After that we watched the year 4's 5's and 6's do their race and it was finally the year 7/8's race.

Overall I think I did well by using my resilience strategies because I tried my best and didn't give up. I also fulfilled my goal which was to get below 14th (I got 9th). By Mollyanne.

      Leadership Merit Evidence- Piano Lessons!

      PIANO LESSONS WITH HILLARY

On Tuesday the 13th of March I went to piano lessons I made sure I turned up on time by asking the teacher on duty what the time was. I had a good (although slightly complicated) lesson. As usual I recapped what we did last week and learnt something new. I think that my goal would be to bring my book every Tuesday because I don't always remember. Other than that I think that I am doing well with remembering to turn up on time. :)

      Leadership Merit evidence- Peer Mediation!

      PEER MEDIATION

Today I did peer mediation. The two other people in my group were doing "Kids Can Cook" at the start of morning tea so I found a friend that did peer mediation to help me. Luckily we had no problems that needed help from us, somebody had reported a problem to us but not everybody agreed that the problem needed help from us to solve it. Near the end of morning tea the others in my group finished "Kids Can Cook" but my friend and I couldn't see them and decided we were managing fine on our own. Next time my goal would be to be more organised as the ipad I grabbed didn't have the peer mediation form when I had assumed that they all had it on them.

      MINIONS

Amazing yellow minions wear elasticy blue vests as stretchy as mozzarella cheese, those greedy minions scoff their mouths with millions of bananas a day. Their G logo symbolizing Gru glints evilly in the sunlight... That is why I love many munching minions.

      On The Bus To Technology

      Peer Mediation!
On Wednesday the 25th of March I went to do my peer mediation duty and realised both of the other people in my group had something else on and could not come. I decided to get a friend that did peer mediation to help me. We had one problem near the end of lunch, the bell rang and we told them to meet us outside the library at lunch time. At lunch time none of the people involved in the problem turned up so we went to find them. They had already sorted out the problem with their classroom teacher so we did not have to get involved.

      Piano lessons with Hillary

On Tuesday the 17th of March I went to piano lessons without being reminded or prompted by Hillary. I think I did well because I turned up on time and was in the right place at the right time. Behavior on the bus to Lincoln

On the bus to technology/Lincoln on tuesday I think that I was showing the C.A.R.E values and following the rules/ expectations because I was: Speaking at a reasonable noise level to only the person next to me, I remained seated the whole time and reminded others that talked to me of the expectations. I also showed the C.A.R.E values at technology because I: Respected Lincoln's property, equipment and students/teachers. I was on time back to the classroom when the bell rang.

      Writing Breakout

I decided that I needed to work on ideas in my writing and attended the breakout, here is a paragraph from my writing to prove I  have progressed in my ideas:

Daisy is gorgeous, her fur is velvety and soft  she is a small Jack-Russel terrier  and her fur smells of a sweet aroma reminding me of strawberries. I figured that Via hadn't come with us because she was busy looking after Daisy at home.(Dad had snuck out last night and went to the pet store.) How I love going to the doctors!

After the breakout edited my writing (highlighted bits) and tried to add more detail E.G see(what you see) hear (what you hear) smell(what you smell) feel (E.G soft, rough, hard) and taste.

      Peer Mediation!

On Wednesday the 18th of February I went on Peer mediation duty. It went quite well as there were no problems. I was quite pleased to see that nearly everybody was getting involved and doing something. A goal for me might be to keep up/ be aware/self aware of what's going on. As I got left behind once or twice.
