Visual Art

WALT: Apply knowledge about shapes and patterns derived from nature into an original artwork.

For Visual Art the SOLO level I achieved was Relational because it was one of my first times using water colors, I tried my best but if I was to do this again I could do better because I would have some experience.

The 3 Visual Art techniques I used in my art work to achieve this level were glazing, shading and moving watercolors.

Here is a photo of my artwork:

My next step in visual art is to experiment with different amounts of water/ paint.

Koru Games Reflection

Koru Games Reflection

The sport that I participated in was Touch Rugby.
My two highlights at Koru Games were: Getting to meet lots of other people that were competing in the Koru Games and learning a wide range of tactics to help improve my skills in Touch Rugby because they were things that I haven't done very often.
Something I'm proud of is scoring three tries overall and giving it my all because we were versing quite difficult teams.
Some advice for next years year sevens would be to put in lots of effort and be resilient.

CARE

CARE
The CARE award that I am working towards is Bronze.

The one area of CARE that I am doing best in is Respect because I've earned my small certificate for respect.

The one area of CARE that I need to work harder in is Excellence because I've got the least ticks in Excellence.

To show my leadership qualities I am a role model to others in the CARE values by doing/showing these leadership traits: Integrity, Motivational, Goal focused, Active Thinker and Trust Worthy.

On the CARE SOLO matrix below I am at this SOLO level Multistructural because I haven't yet earned my Bronze but I'm quite close.

The Water Cycle

The hydraulic cycle, (commonly known as the water cycle) takes an important part in our everyday lives; This includes four key stages: Condensation, evaporation, precipitation and finally, groundwater/ runoff. The water which is recycled continuously changes state from a liquid, solid and vapour.

Condensation/ Evaporation

Evaporation is where water molecules in rivers, oceans etc rises back up into the air and turns to a vapour. When the air’s warmer it speeds up the process. The step that follows on from this  (condensation) changes the water vapour to clouds. This happens due to the weather change.

Precipitation

Precipitation is yet another stage in the water cycle. Rain, snow, sleet and hail are all differential forms of precipitation. The invisible water molecules that has risen up into the sky collects into a cloud, even if you can’t see it the air is full of water and, once a cloud's full that's when precipitation happens. The amount of precipitation that’s happening is different all around the world. Where does all of this go, you ask?

Groundwater/ Runoff

Groundwater has many purposes. It can be used for plants, aquifers, rivers and oceans. Once the precipitation falls, some water flows over the ground (runoff) when other water soaks in and becomes  groundwater. Groundwater in Christchurch is actually our tap water, of course, it’s cleaned so it’s healthy for us to drink.

Conclusion

Overall, the water cycle is very important to New Zealand and all over the world- it has many uses such as domestic/ household use.

The parts highlighted in green are the places where I included commas, semi colons, hyphens, brackets and parentheses.

I can recognise and understand a variety of grammatical constructions and some rhetorical patterns

I can recognise and understand a variety of grammatical constructions and some rhetorical patterns

In this unit I have been learning about:
  • The parts of speech.
  • The types of nouns.
  • The types of sentences.

In this unit, I found challenging…

The parts of speech because it was hard finding information and there were seven parts we had to research about.

Something new I learnt was...

I learnt what a preposition is. A preposition is a word that describes the relation to an object.

Evaluating Author's purpose.

In reading we have been learning to make decisions about the usefulness of the text for the purpose, by using a variety of criteria to evaluate.

We read a range of texts and  evaluated them against four key criteria.
These were:
  • Readability
  • Accuracy
  • Relevance
  • Quality of information/ language.

Here is my evidence to show that I am able to demonstrate this reading skill.
